Mere Christianity – 8 Week Study

In a world torn apart by the WWII, Britain needed a word of Hope.  Once a staunch Athiest, C.S. Lewis found his faith and was called upon to share it with his country.

Discover why Mere Christianity by C.S. Lewis is one of the most read and beloved Christian books of all time. But seventy years after it was first delivered on radio, what relevance does it have to our world today? In this 8-session study, Eric Metaxas and a variety of Christian leaders help us understand the timeless message of C.S. Lewis in fresh ways for a new generation

The 8-week study aims to fulfill the vision C.S. Lewis had of reaching people from all faith backgrounds. The book, Mere Christianity and the Discussing Mere Christianity Study Guide will help you dig deeper and learn more so you can be part of accomplishing that vision.

The task Lewis set for himself in Mere Christianity was to focus on and explain the teachings that all of Christianity hold in common. These teachings are far more important, he maintained, than any doctrines that divide the church. In his perfect world, such divisions wouldn’t exist, but since they do, he wanted to show how, on all the great issues, Christianity speaks as one.

One of the positive characteristics most reported about Ascension by visitors is it’s “friendly and welcoming atmosphere.” Hospitality and connectivity are vital to a thriving church. However, as the church grows, making and keeping close relationships becomes more of a challenge.

This is why Home Groups are so important to a church our size! A Home Group is a group of 8-12 people which meets in the comfort of someone’s home on a weekly basis. The focus of the group is to grow in faith with our Lord and in relationship with one another while taking part in a common teaching.

A Home Group is also a great way to invite people into Christian relationship without challenges that Sunday mornings can bring. Very often people can be uncomfortable with a church atmosphere until they come to know others and a Home Group is the perfect place to start.
